Avi is sleeping

Open the menu bar popup and turn Watching on. If Avi needs permission, use its permission control to open System Settings and enable Avi’s pointer access under Privacy & Security. On macOS 27 this is Device Control and Data Access. After granting access, reopen Avi if monitoring does not begin.

The Aerial video won’t play

Choose a single Apple Aerial in macOS screen-saver settings and let macOS download it. Other providers and shuffle are unsupported. Follow Avi’s recovery message if the selection cannot be read. Black-screen playback does not require an Aerial download.

Return to work or stop Watching

Move the mouse, click, or press a key to dismiss the overlay. That first click or key is consumed to avoid activating something behind it. To stop monitoring, turn Watching off. Locking or sleeping your Mac pauses Avi; it resumes after wake and unlock if Watching remains on.

Run at login

Enable Run Avi at login in the popup. If macOS requires approval, use Open Login Items and approve Avi there. This starts Avi after you sign in. Turn the option off to unregister it.

Screen sleep and availability

A black overlay keeps the display powered on. It does not reduce display power or override authenticated locks, lid closure or organization policies. Presence in chat and other apps is controlled by those apps.

Send a useful report

Email [email protected] with your Mac model, macOS and Avi versions, the action you took and what happened. Tell us whether the issue involved a hot corner, natural idle, Aerial video or black-screen playback.

Use Log… in Avi’s popup to inspect recent activity. Review and redact anything you do not want to share before sending a log or screenshot. Never include passwords or other secrets.
